Reuben L (English Language and Literature A Level)

I chose English Language and Literature at Godalming College because of the course’s balance between creative writing and textual analysis. I enjoy writing in my spare time, so this aspect especially appealed to me. I have most enjoyed studying the set texts, as each offered new perspectives and challenged my thinking. The course has developed both my analytical skills and my confidence in writing. As well as all this, the teachers are so supportive and engaging, and the collaborative class environment has facilitated the exploration and sharing of ideas.

My favourite part of life at Godalming College has been the independence it offers, which has prepared me for the style of learning found in university. As well as this, there is a strong sense of community within the college, facilitated by both the curricular and extracurricular activities.

As a leader of the Christian Union this year, it has been great to join with like-minded people in a close community. One of the most valuable parts of this club has been this sense of community and the opportunity to have meaningful discussions. Being part of this group has made my college experience more balanced, and I would recommend joining a club as it helps you build friendships outside of lessons.
